Art From My Heart

Happy Friday! 

Hope you have something fun planned this weekend. I am looking forward to teaching at Chico Scrapbooks for my Sundays with Sharon series. This month it's a journal page featuring the Remnant Rub Resist technique by Tim a Holtz. Here is a peek at my three samples. 

I also wanted to share some gifts I created recently. I have found that when I put my whole heart into a piece I much happier with the end result. It truly becomes a gift from my heart. I'm not sure why this makes the process easier for me, perhaps because there are no limits or criteria, or that there is no pressure to meet expectations but I truly love the release and inspiration I get from these projects. 

Have you seen Tim's new coffee die?  So stinkin cute I tell ya!  It was the jumping off point for this coffee fueled canvas. My long time office mate has a wonderful husband who unexpectedly drops by the office bringing her a coffee drink. A mocha to be exact.  I affectionately have nick named him mocha Bob. Hee hee.  She has always generously shared those coffees with me. I wanted to create something to thank them for their big hearts and coffee.   The quote says it all!  

Another piece that is some art from my heart is an aloha canvas. A long time friend of my husband helped him out during a tough time while he is facing his own challenges. My husband after seeing their Hawaii wall asked me to create something to gift to them.   It was a fun process to collaborate with my hubbie to come up with a cool piece. I took my inspiration from Hawaiian tapa cloths. 

I found the turtle clip art, resized it and printed it onto textured cardstock.   This turtle already had the patterns on him and all I had to do was embellish them with my white pen.  Die cuts and punches were used for the floral shapes.  Super happy with how it all came together. 

I'm honored to say the Dave and Karen put it up on their wall right away. They even added the leaf ribbon I used on the package. I think when the heart and soul are working to create a piece magical things happen. I had never seen the Hawaii wall but as you can see my piece fit right into their theme.

Creating from my heart is so rewarding and the shock waves of positive spirit are sent out into the universe. Art from my heart makes me happy.

CHA Winter 2015 - Prima

Hello!

today I want to share my favorites from Prima.  For me its all about the mixed media, metals, and bold vintage.

The Archivist by Frank Garcia is a wonderful mix of masculine, vintage, and botanical with a Parisian feel.

To compliment The Archivist is Memory Hardware by Frank Garcia.  Yummy metals, fasteners, trims, and albums.

What really got my heart all a flutter were the art basics, art extravagance, and art ingredients by Finnabair!  Mixed media heaven!  Art Basics includes 3D gels, Soft Gels, Gessos, Modeling Paste and Light Paste.  Art Extravagance includes sand texture pastes and crackle texture pastes.  And last but not least is the Art Ingredients with glitter, glass glitter, art sugars, glass beads, micro beads, mica flakes and mica powders. 

Love this piece with all the texture and crackle.

Ah look!  Upon closer inspection you can see all the micro beads.  Cool, huh?

There are also some structures to decorate and alter.   Oh the possibilities!

The Prima booth never fails to inspire.  Looking forward to all the paper, inky, and messy fun with the Frank Garcia and Finnabair lines.

Happy St. Paddy's and More

Top O the Day to Ya! 

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday and St. Patricks Day.   While I'm at work our meal is cooking away in the crock pot. Not really in to the corned beef so I just got a brisket to go with the cabbage, red potatoes and carrots. Hope you have something festive planned to celebrate the day. 

Had a wonderful weekend at Chico Scrapbooks!  Saturday was an all day crop and Sunday I taught a mixed media canvas class.  Nothing better than hanging out with good friends and getting crafty. 

Here is my sample for the Spring Flight class.  Thank You to Debby, Michele, Pam and Rosemary. You did an excellent job and inspired me with your variations on my canvas. 

Where are the photos from class you ask?  Weeeeelllll, I really do have the best intentions to take photos of the class in action. I get so involved in teaching and walking around looking at the progress that I get totally lost in the moment and before I know it class is over.   I feel so blessed to be teaching something that I am very passionate about.  I do indeed think I'm  very lucky to have met so many people that share the same passion that I do. 

Wish I had some more photos to show you today. I've got several projects in the works that I will share when they are complete.  Terri, my teammate at Chico Scrapbooks, and I  have been collaborating on decorating a tree that is displayed in the store. We are currently working on an Easter themed tree for April. The reveal is usually the last week of each month and Jodie takes a video the following week. I'll show you the cute shadow boxes for the tree once they are complete. I'm also working on another simple but festive Spring/Easter multi panel wall hanging.
