Dylusions-Tim Holtz Halloween Art Journal Page

Hello everyone!

Happy Fall!   I have found that people either have a blast with Halloween or don't like it at all. I'm one of those who absolutely love to decorate for Halloween. Love the oranges, blacks, greens and purples that signify the spooky color scheme. So many fun images to work with.

Today, being the last Sunday of the month, was mixed media day at Chico Scrapbooks, my LSS.   Everyone is encouraged to come by, hang out, and work on their favorite mixed media project. Today was all about my art journal and well, as if you haven't guessed, Halloween.

It's a Dylusional Holtzian trick or treat page (smile, wink)!  Working in my journal of choice, Dyan's Dylusions large journal I started with some buildings cut out from the Tim Holtz Alterations die Artful Dwellings.  Add some water and Dylusions sprays and you've got the start of a spooky scene.   Stencils, stamps, and Pitt pens being the scene to life. A touch of white pigment pen and spritz with a silver sharpie and my page was complete.

Supplies used:

Ranger Dylusions Creative Journal
Dylusions ink spray:  after midnight, white linen, slate grey, dirty martini, lemon zest
Faber-Castell Pitt artist big brush pen:  black 199, dark chrome yellow 109
Uniball signo pigment ink pen:  white UM-153
Sharpie silver metallic
Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamps:  distress damask cms190, mini Halloween 3 CMS 140, mini Halloween 4 CMS 198
Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations:  artful dwellings 657218
Tim Holtz distress marker spritzer
Crafters Workshop Stencils:  mini bricks 191s, mini capricious 124s
Prima stencils:  finnabair item 960179

So fun to let loose and just make a fun Halloween page.  I've got some other Halloween and fall projects in the works so please come back for some more posts this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 April

Hello!

Just getting the post on my version of the April 2014 Tim Holtz tag in the nick of time!

Whew, its been so busy that I just haven't had the time to sit down and share it with you!  My pay the bills job is insanely busy with new hires, training, and the usual payroll, benefits, safety, and our computer network.  I wear a lot of hats.  In addition I just had two days of jury duty and I'm helping when I can at Chico Scrapbooks to get ready for the big National Scrapbook Day weekend.

My friend Michele has been playing along with me this year.  It has been great to have someone to get creative with.  You can find her on the net as hyperartistgirl.  Her blog is here.  She also has an Etsy shop where there are some unique creations.

If you haven't already, check out Tim's April tag on his blog at http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2014-april/

We followed Tim's design using our own palette of colors.  We used the honeycomb frameworks instead of the trellis frameworks, and the tattered florals die instead of the tattered pine cone.

Great reminder to just take time to breathe!

Love the texture.

As usual, Michele and I had a great time creating our own version.  Won't you join us?  Tim always posts the new tag on the first of each month.  Look for the May tag tomorrow.

Thank You for taking the time to stop by.  Hope you get a chance this month to create something.

Take care.  Hugs,  Sharon

Christmas Gift Card Holders

Good Evening Everyone!

Hope your week is going well.  Just two short weeks until Christmas.  Just seems that December goes by at the speed of light doesn't it?

Got all your shopping done?  For the most part I do.  Hubby and I are keeping it simple and giving gift cards and home made gifts.  Now you can't just hand over the gift cards right?  There has to be something to hold the cards and make a festive presentation.  I created some cards that have a gift card holder on the inside that I wanted to share with you.

Using the Alterations dies Postage Stamp Frame and Mini Clipboard I put together a fun holder for those gift cards.  These came together quickly.  I used some Christmas paper from seasons past from my stash.  If you have these dies and some left over Christmas paper this is something that you could easily put together without much effort.

The card base and envelope are blanks that can be purchased at your craft store.  Usually come in packs of 50.  I keep these on hand so I can put together cards quickly if needed.  The papers, from my stash, are from K&Company (Tidings of Comfort and Joy by Brenda Walton) and SEI (Winter Song).  I used the sentiments from the paper collection.  Just basic measuring, cutting, layering, and gluing here.

The inside starts with a base of more paper from the collections.  Next is the die cutting.  I used the two dies together - the Postage Stamp Frame and the Mini Clipboard.

If you are unfamiliar with Movers & Shapers dies from Tim Holtz Alterations line they are a versatile group of dies.  The base movers & shapers like this Postage Stamp Frame has a center cut out that can be used as is or you can insert shapes to create cut outs.  In this case I used the Mini Clipboard to create a holder for the gift card.  I inked up the edges of the postage frame and used some pewter distress stain to color the top of the clipboard.  Fun isn't it?

If you are looking for a festive and unexpected presentation for your gift cards this year the mini clipboard is it!  Lots of options to use the clipboard with many of the base movers & shapers die to make a card or tag.

I hope that you are taking the time to enjoy the season.  Stop and have some cookies or a hot chocolate and admire your tree or take some time to drive around and see the Christmas lights.

Thank You for stopping by.  Happy Creating!

Hugs,  Sharon
