I've been working on one more Halloween project before the witching hour has passed. I just can't seem to get enough of the faux metal look inspired by Tim Holtz. This time I took my cue from The Gentleman Crafter. He made this awesome Silver Skull Crypt. I used the same squiggly technique on the foil tape to get a fun texture.
I put them foil tape all over a witch's hat to make it look like metal. Next came the flowers. Using black cardstock and Graphic 45 Happy Haunting paper I made a bunch of flowers in all sizes. Added to that were some leaves cut from the Sizzix Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves Die in black card stock. These got wet and dry embossed. I also cut out some shapes from my Teresa Collins Cricut cartridge Chic & Scary. I layered and layered and am quite happy with the result.
Here is the front.
Here is the back.
Close up of the flowers and leaves. You can seek peeks of the faux metal.
Close up of the moon, spider and web.
Witch way do you like it best? Front or Back?
Off to start thinking about carving some pumpkins and making some witch finger cookies. Happy Haunting!
Thanks for stopping by. Hugs, Sharon
Amazing as always Sharon! Fantastic Project! Yahooo!

Ah, thanks Jim. Thanks for the shout out on FB. I didn't have an end in mind with this one but it just came together. Don't ya love it when that happens.

I really like this & it is so clever, especially the flowers?? I want to know where that paper with the cat on is from? Don't recognise collection. Only if you have time; no worries if not as bit cheeky to ask.
ReplyDeleteFab stuff!! :)
PS Love both sides as cat on back but the flowers at the front just beautiful. Thank you Jim the Gentleman Crafters for post!
Thank You for stopping by! Not cheeky at all cardgirl! The large flowers are from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Floral die. The centers and the small flowers are made with EK Success punches. On the back the poem and the cat are actually two separate items. The poem is from the Graphic 45 Happy Haunting Collection - the bewitched paper. The cat is from a Cricut cartridge - Teresa Collins Chic & Scary. I just layered them together. So glad you liked it!
DeleteYour hat is really Awesome, I like the front best with all the pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteThanks shari! Glad you stopped by for a visit. I really like making flowers, if you couldn't tell, ha, ha. I can't decide between the front and back. Have a great day.
DeleteSharon, I LOVE your commemorative "hat" to all the little witches out there! Personally, I love the kitties on the back but they look lonely without flowers... so I'd put more flowers on the back and use it BOTH ways!
ReplyDeleteHey Katina, I like the idea of putting flowers all the way around. Thanks for looking.
DeleteAdore your hat! Must put this on my list for next year..still have a couple of projects I want to get done now! Halloween until the last moment!
ReplyDeleteThank You Sandi! I know, there never seems to be enough time for all the projects. Yikes, I need to get started on making Christmas gifts. Have a great Halloween.
DeleteHmmmmmm . . . choices, choices . . . can't choose-love the look all around . . . great creation and I have the perfect table for it when you no longer want it - hahaha!!! You have got to show me that foil technique!
ReplyDeleteI know it's tough to choose witch side. Actually I like them both too. Ha ha I'll let you know when it needs a new home. I would be happy to show you the technique. But I warn you it's addictive! Thanks for your comments.
