Reminder that Google Reader is Retiring

Hello again!  Two posts in one day. How about that!

I was reminded tonight that as of tomorrow Google Reader will be no more. A reader is a great way to organize all the blogs you read or follow in one spot. A few months ago Linda Ledbetter did a wonderful post on the options out there. Check out her post here:  http://studiol3.blogspot.com/2013/03/utterly-fabulous-alternatives-to-google.html

Thanks Linda for doing all the research. Great resource.

I moved my blogs from Google reader over to Feedly. It was an easy move and there are several options for viewing.  It will take a bit to get used to the format but do far so good.

So . . . If you are using Google Reader you will want to switch tonight.

Hope you have a fabulous week.

Hugs,  Sharon

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013 June

Hello!

Wanted to share my version of Tim Holtz June tag. Nothing like waiting until the last possible moment, ha ha. Really, it is actually July tomorrow?

I chose a different image but followed Tim's techniques. Using the Distress markers on watercolor paper really allows some nice blending and shading. Really enjoyed this process.

If you aren't doing your own versions of Tim's tags I encourage you to join in on the fun. He is sure to post his July tag tomorrow. Check out his website at http://timholtz.com/

Hope your summer is going well. Enjoy!  Thanks so much for stopping by. Really appreciate you.

Happy creating!

Hugs, Sharon

Gone Dylusional!

Happy Friday!

Was planning on posting this weekend what I've been up to but got so excited decided to share a peek. Ready for this?  Ok, you may have already guessed but I am Dylusional. Errr, I mean I've gone Dylusional. Oh, you know what I mean!

I finally got my hands on Dyans journal, inks, stamps and stencils!  Yahoo!  I'm in heaven!  Here's a little look at my first pages.

Sorry if some of the pics look a little wonky. Working from my iPad and don't know how, or if I can edit photos.

Aren't those colors just gorg!   Really fun and relaxing.  Loving the Dylusions!

As usual, I've got several projects going. Here is my other current joy . . . Steampunk Spells!  Just a little sneaky peak on something I've got brewing.

I know that's not much to go on, tee, hee. Promise I will show more soon.

Hoping you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for stopping by. Happy creating.

Hugs, Sharon

A Ladies Diary Birthday

Hello all!

Hope your week is going well.  Almost the first day of summer, can you believe it?  My the year has gone by quickly it seems.

If you don't know already, I have started a Facebook page to share my blog posts as well as other photos of projects.  If you are on Facebook, come on over to SY's Studio and check it out.  If you want to see new posts to that page go ahead and "Like" the page.  I bring up the Facebook page because I put up a sneak peak of a birthday project for a friend.  Could be that I will be sharing other sneaks as well.  Just saying.

My friend Debby celebrated her birthday recently.  She is a Graphic 45 fan and especially loves the A Ladies Diary line.  I created a wall hanging for her using A Ladies Diary papers.

It started with some chipboard, patterned paper, and some solid cardstock.

And turned into a triple wall hanging.
Each panel is 5" x 7" and covered with solid cardstock.  On one panel you can see some embossing peaking through.  I then layered all the Ladies Diary papers.  Next came the embellishments including liquid pearls, die cut flowers, die cut frames, buttons,  and brads.  I linked the frames together with some jump rings and rings from my stash.  A bit of leaf ribbon created the hanger.

Supplies used:

Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary Collection - Garden Stroll, La Gazette, Moment in Time, Lasting Impression, Delicate Details

Core-Dinations Signature Series Graphic 45 Card Stock - Bon Voyage, Venetian Lace, Antique Moss

Teresa Collins Fabrications Brads

Ranger - Liquid Pearls in White Opal, Onyx Pearl, Platinum Pearl; Vintage Photo Distress Ink

Sizzix - Frame, Jelly, Sizzlits Large Flower, Rose 3-D

Tim Holtz Idea-ology - Jump Rings

So enjoy making these wall hangings as gifts.  It is a fairly quick project that can be made with paper and embellishments from your stash.  It can be customized to any size that suits your need.

Happy Birthday Debby!  Looking forward to seeing what spot you chose for the Ladies Diary piece.

Thank You for stopping by.  Love to read your comments.  Happy creating.

Hugs,  Sharon

Teaching My First Class!

Good Evening!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was hot, hot, hot here - in the triple digits. Cooler today and much more pleasant.

I am so proud and excited to tell you that I will be teaching my first class Saturday, June 15, 2013.   I will be teaching the Pride Texture Canvas at Chico Scrapbooks. There are still a few slots open so if you live in or around the Chico area I would love to have you join me.

You can contact Chico Scrapbooks at (530) 345-9333 to reserve your spot.

We will be creating this patriotic home decor piece.  A patchwork of textures and colors on a canvas perfect for hanging.  Customize this piece to suit your tastes with Distress inks, crackle paint, and embellishments.  Could even make a nice Father's Day gift for those patriotic Dad's out there!

I will be showing you how to customize your ribbons to match your project using Distress inks and water.

So excited and grateful for this opportunity!  Thank You to Jodie at Chico Scrapbooks.

Thank You for stopping by.  Hope you have a great week ahead.  Happy Creating.

Hugs,  Sharon
