Journal Pages and Distressed Tags

Good Sunday Evening,

Happy Mothers Day to all you Mom's out there.  Hope you had a wonderful day.  Thank You for all the love, hugs, encouragement, and guidance you provide.  Miss you everyday Mom!  Always feel you by my side, as it has always been.

Wanted to share some of the projects I worked on during the big National Scrapbook Day event.  What a great weekend we all had at Chico Scrapbooks.  Big thanks to Jodie, Steph, and Barb for putting on such a fun event.  So much creativity, encouragement, laughter, and joy!  Big hugs and thanks to Jim Hankins, The Gentleman Crafter, and Cesar for the wonderful class.  Check out Jim's blog posts on Chico and the weekend here and here and here.  Lots of photos of the good times.  I also encourage you to check out the Chico Scrapbooks page on Facebook.  Jodie has lots of photos and great information about the store.

While a good part of Saturday was the Quote Wallet class with Jim this was a full weekend event.  I brought my journal, some tags, distress inks and paints, and some mixed media supplies to just spend some time playing.

This journal page was created with a background of distress paints-peeled paint, broken china, salty ocean, and forest moss.  The circles were created by pouncing the paint bottle gently down on the page.   I stamped the dragonfly, words, and mixed media circles with archival inks.  Using a white pigment pen I doodled to add some interest.

This page is Hero Arts meets Distress.  Distress paints for the background.  Hero Arts stamps with archival ink.  Flowers colored with Distress markers.  And then white pen for the doodling.  I am amazed and delighted about how the white pen really makes the page pop.  This is my new favorite technique.  These colors just make me happy.

I also created some backgrounds on tags using Tim Holtz wrinkle free distress technique.  Distress Inks included Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Dusty Concord, Broken China, and Worn Lipstick.  I also used the blending tool to fill in and give a shadow to the edges.  Then I stamped various backgrounds and images and sentiments.  Finished each off with some more white pen doodling and a pretty ribbon. These are the four that I had left.  I gave several away as thank you's at the event.

It was so fun to just play with my inks and stamps.  And of course my white pen, lol.

I am working on several projects, and have several more in mind which is pretty normal for me, ha, ha. Will share as soon as I have some completed.

Thanks for stopping by.  I do so enjoy your comments and feedback.  Have a great week ahead.  Happy Crafting.

Hugs,  Sharon
